1. Overview & Architectural Privacy Guarantee
ScholarKit ("we", "our", or "the platform") is committed to safeguarding student data. Unlike many educational portals that harvest student emails, GPA history, or academic transcripts to broker targeted marketing leads, our platform operates on a strict client-side computation model.
When you use our CGPA Calculator, GPA to Percentage Converter, Attendance Calculator, Pomodoro Study Timer, or any other utility on this site, your input numbers, text snippets, and grade points are processed strictly inside your device's web browser memory. No course names, grade points, percentages, or essay drafts are ever transmitted to or stored on our servers.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
- No User Accounts: You do not need to register, log in, or provide an email address, name, or phone number to access our utilities.
- No Academic Record Storage: We do not operate a backend database storing course grades, credits, attendance logs, or personal notes.
- No Document Transmission: Text pasted into our Word & Character Counter remains in local volatile memory and is never uploaded.
3. Browser LocalStorage & Session Storage
Certain utilities (such as the Pomodoro Study Timer or future study preference toggles) may utilize browser localStorage or sessionStorage. This data resides exclusively on your local device to preserve your timer durations or theme preferences across page refreshes. You can clear this data at any time through your browser settings.
4. Third-Party Hosting & Server Logs
Our static website files are hosted on globally distributed edge networks (such as Vercel). When your browser requests a web page, standard technical network metadata (such as your IP address, browser user-agent, and HTTP request timestamp) is processed temporarily by the hosting infrastructure to deliver web assets securely and defend against distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks. These technical request logs are governed by the hosting provider's security and privacy infrastructure and are not correlated with academic calculations.
5. Advertising & Third-Party Cookie Disclosures
To sustain the operational costs of maintaining free calculation software for millions of students worldwide, this website may display advertisements served by third-party advertising partners, including Google AdSense.
In accordance with Google and industry transparency standards:
- Third-Party Vendors: Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites on the Internet.
- Google Advertising Cookies: Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to ScholarKit and/or other sites on the Internet.
- Personalized Advertising Opt-Out: Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, users can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
- European Economic Area (EEA), UK & Switzerland (GDPR): For visitors originating from the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, a Google-certified Consent Management Platform (CMP) is activated to collect consent for personalized or non-personalized ad cookies under the IAB TCF v2.2 framework.
- California Consumer Privacy (CCPA/CPRA): California residents have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of their personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising via privacy preference signals or our consent settings.
Calculation Data Isolation Guarantee: Calculations (grades, percentages, attendance, timers) execute exclusively in browser memory and are completely isolated from advertising scripts. Ad tags never receive or read your course inputs.
6. Cookies & Local Storage Usage
ScholarKit utilizes minimal local technologies:
- Essential LocalStorage: Used solely to preserve your countdown schedules (Exam Tracker) and timer preferences (Pomodoro) locally on your device without server communication.
- Third-Party Partner Cookies: Advertising partners such as Google may place cookies for ad measurement, frequency capping, and fraud prevention as detailed in Section 5.
7. Children's Privacy
Our platform is designed for general student audiences, including high school, undergraduate, and graduate students. Because we do not collect personal identifiers, we do not knowingly harvest personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Union).
